HYBRID TRANSPLANT of WINDPIPE
The successful partial left bronchus transplant -coming from a recently deceased- to a Colombian woman with damaged airway due to tuberculosis, carried out in the Clinic of Barcelona, proposes an alternative procedure of avoiding in permanent form the graft versus host disease.
In this case the deceased's windpipe was depopulated of its cells and MHC antigens, by means of chemical substances and enzymes (tissue bioengineering), leaving alone an organic scaffold (fibrous collagen), on which epithelials and stem cells producers of chondrocites coming from the Colombian were implanted, in a such way that the immune system of this woman (30 years), finished recognizing them as own, not needing inmunosupresors drugs, at all. 4 months later the patient has not developed antidonor antibodies. Really, a breakthrough.

El exitoso trasplante parcial de bronquio izquierdo -procedente de un recién fallecido- a una colombiana con vías aéreas dañadas a raiz de una tuberculosis, realizado en el Clinic de Barcelona, propone un medio alternativo de evadir en forma permanente el rechazo del injerto por el huésped.
En este caso la tráquea del fallecido fué despoblada de células y antígenos MHC, mediante sustancias químicas y enzimas (bioingenieria tisular), dejando solo un molde órganico (tejido fibroso colágeno), sobre el cual se implantaron células epiteliales y células madre procedentes de la colombiana productoras de condrocitos, de modo tal que el sistema inmune de esta (30 años), terminó reconociéndolas como propias, no necesitándose drogas inmunosupresoras, en absoluto. 4 meses después la paciente no ha desarrollado anticuerpos antidonador. Realmente, un acontecimiento médico.
