Virtual biochemistry.

American researchers created a virtual model of cellular human biochemical reactions (2007
Duarte, N.D., Becker, S. A., Jamshidi, N., Thiele, I., Mo, M. L., Vo, T. D., Srivas, R., Palsson, B. O., "Global reconstruction of the human metabolic network based on genomic and bibliomic data", Proc. Nat’l Acad. Sci- Accepted-). For it, they revised 1500 books, papers magazines and scientific reports of the last 50 years elaborating a database of 3,300 metabolic reactions. The computer pattern will allow the scientists to predict diverse treatments in metabolic processes, instead of using real cells. Bernhard Palsson, medical bioengineer of the University of California, jointly with 6 colleagues, said that the net is capable of scrutinizing the effectiveness of antisinthesis cholesterol drugs or to get off weight. Meanwhile they have analyzed the human genome virtually looking for relationships between genes and certain metabolic processes related with the production of enzymes. Now they are about predicting what would happen if anything interfere with certain metabolic processes of the blood or heart cells. Although the goal but important is to identify metabolic personalized nets. They also hope to predict in detail the characteristics of metabolic reactions that convert fat, proteins and carbohydrates to energy, particularities of hemolytic anemias (quick destruction of blood cells), etc. First told it Carl Woese (next Prize Nobel winner) and now Palsson: the factic models must be preceded each time but often by theoretical models.

Bioquimica virtual
