ARTERIOGENESIS

Drawing.Taken from DerSpiegel: (2):blocked blood vessel. (3) arteriogenesis.
2 methods based on knowledge of cardiovascular physiology and vascular peripheral vessels offer new treatments to people with arterial blockades (calcification, embolus, thrombus, etc) that impede appropriate sanguine supplies to legs and/or brain. Traditionally thrombus are extirpated by means of surgery, vein bypasses, inflatable balls to enlarge the narrowing or amputations. The 2 new methods promote arteriogenesis (new blood vessels). Usually, beside main arteries numerous small collateral blood vessels of a 1/10 mm of thickness exist. I) If a great artery is narrowed the blood flows for collateral blood vessels, being activated genes that movilize monocytes producers of factors of growth that formed biological bypasses. Blood flow associated to programmed exercise increases the diameter of blood vessels a process demonstrated in guinea pigs by Wolfgang Schaper of the Max Planck Institute. The conversion is limited in smokers or inactive people. Physically active societies live but and runners don't present symptoms in spite of having obstructive arterial calcifications.

II) The second method uses thick inflatable pneumatic trousers that cover abdomen and legs and are connected to 3 tubes. When pressing a button undulant vibrations travel the body segment by segment impelling the blood from the feet toward the heart and brain stimulating arteriogenesis. A daily hour during 5 days for space of 45 days, are enough to improve the collateral vessels of the heart, brain and lower limbs in 87%.

ARTERIOGENESIS
