Nearby encounters (Encuentros cercanos).

Since last Sunday (03,19 hs) and even until the end of December, Mars was very near the Earth, event to be repeated alone in the 2018. Hour to inquire for the importance of Mars for us.
1) It fascinates us to place 24 satelites orbiting Mars –sending us images in permanent form- like the style of diverse GPS (global positioning -satellite- systems) present, that encircle the Earth. In reality, does not have a lot of sense to send men to the Moon or, Mars, if other capable media exist to examine in detail everything that happens in moons and neighboring planets. Imagine to see in alive, by the TV, the fearsome storms of dust that in certain seasons cover the totality of Mars, the eruptions of lava through volcanos (Olympus), of 27 km of height? or, to contemplate the enormous canyon: Marineris? And, perhaps by analogy we would not extract from there preventive measures for the growing natural catastrophe that threaten us? The Russian, Chinese and the american NASA, spatial agencies, must change their goals. The priority thing now, is to place GPS, around as much as planets be possible.
2) But when the need pressure and we have to install permanent human colonies the red planet fascinates us, because we will have to structure enormous crystallized domes, that at the same time that admit the entrance of light will be waterproof to destructive natural phenomena, enclosing eco/enviromments full of flora and fauna (terraquization-humanization- of Mars), self-sufficient.
3) the red planet fascinates us, by the enormous possibilities to find life (in the shape of martian archeobacterias, adapted to extended life because of the cold: -65 degrees C). However, to find fossil life, also would be important, because it would mean that organic life will be capable of emerging and to be maintained in any planet, given certain minimal conditions. The organic life understood as order (emerging of organized genes), would be then a natural consequence, the end point of chaos, a universal Law -at least until today- not adequate, perceived.
4) Mars could be converted also in an ideal experimental laboratory, of natural events. We could to put in practices my idea to try to destroy the Martian hurricanes detonating explosives in the same eye of the hurricane, with the intention of altering the direction of its spiral rotation. We could also employ the force and power of the hurricanes with specific purposes (to move machines, to induce rains in desert areas, etc).
5) The presence of large Martian channels and the detection of ice water in the Martian polar caps, suggests that Mars had liquid water and was hot in ancient times. What natural events then, turned Mars in the refrigerator that is at present? Being that our destiny also? Therefore, it imports to study to, Mars.
Encuentros cercanos.

1. Could we really learn what we need to know without putting human life on the planet..I suppose we could.. but we're taking all the fun out of it.
2. Agreed..
3. I think the fact that we find organic forms of life miles below the surface of our oceans in high pressure oxygen devoid environments is already proof of this.
4. As I remember in the 1950's scientists considered setting off nuclear detonations within Earthly hurricanes and concluded (perhaps wrongly)that such activities might actually increase the energy levels of these storms rather than disrupt them. Of course cyclonic storms such as the recent Katrina we now are told contain much more energy than the 100 megaton H Bombs the Russians developed in the 60's.
5. We are always told that our Sun will eventually expand so much that it will consume our planet..certainly a short term solution as we move toward that event will be for much of the Earthly population to relocate temporarily for some milleniums on a warming up red planet.
