Emotional inteligences (Inteligencias emocionales).
Last Sunday I had the pleasure to watch the special one “Selena alive”, in TV (04/April/2005), emitted since the former-Astrodome of Houston: the Reliant Stadium. 55 000 spectators especially Latin Americans of Mexican ancestry, took the stadium. How a singer of Tex-Mex, was able to congregate such mob after 10 years of their death?¿ what psycho-social-cultural factors, concur to it? Stimulant material of study for social scientists, of sharp eye. Here in Peru, there is no day that we do not listen to Selena, to sing: Bidi Bidi Bom, Bom, Dances this cumbia, Love prohibited, when you travel in the van, the bus, watch TV, in the commercial, etc. Selena lives and each day she sings better.
Selena (Selena Quintanilla), the femme fatale : Marilyn Monroe (Norm J. Baker) and the Peruvian, composer of chicha music (andean peruvian cumbia) : Chacalón (Lorenzo P. Quispe), possessed aside from their premature deaths, something in common: powerful personal intelligences. It says Gardner (1), that together with the logical-mathematical, cynesthesic-body, musical, linguistic intelligences, exists another: the emotional or personal intelligence, characterized by 2 ramifications: 1) that of certain people with intelligences overturned toward an authentic knowledge of itself :mystics, philosophers and 2) other, that come to develop a deep knowledge in their emotional and personal relations with other individuals. Selena, the Monroe or Chacalón, possessed by nature, these intelligences projected toward the others, having come to know to the perfection the states of spirit of the others, its hidden desires, its motivations, its temperaments, its intentions, in such form that they acquired the capacity to influence and directing them toward determined end (positive, pleasant and even morbid spirit states achievement), reaching in this area of social communication, the same stature that Kennedy, Gorbachev, Castro, Lenin, etc.
In these intelligences influences the middle and the culture. Selena was born faithful and adequate since its infancy, by a musical family, absorbing early the totality of the musical simbology of the Tex-Mex. Interpreting and developing the style and essence of the lyrics of the Tex-Mex, she enriched the meaning of the music, exaggerating her sensibility, making possible the absorption of a more extensive range of emotions and perceptions. In the case of Marilyn, its knowledge of the sexual emotional needs of the men that were going to see her, would press she to discover new communicative avenues. Joshua Logan, one of its movie directors said: ” Marilyn was pure movies, did not need to use words…sufficed him with its eyes, its lips, its light and coincidental gestures” (2). Of Selena, that its alone presence flooded of infinite emotion the settings, when in this opportunity the magic of the video revived her, singing Love prohibited and thousands of handkerchiefs and white roses flooded the stadium, this reached its climax. Of Chacalón, alone we will say “every act or genial voice comes from the town and goes toward him” (3).

Quispe), poseían aparte de sus muertes prematuras, algo en común : poderosas inteligencias personales. Dice Gardner (1), que al lado de las inteligencias : lógico-matemática, cinestésico-corporal, musical, lingüística, existe otra :la inteligencia emocional o personal, caracterizada por 2 talentosas ramificaciones : 1) el de ciertas personas con inteligencias volcadas hacia un auténtico conocimiento de sí mismos (misticos, filósofos) y 2) otras, que llegan a desarrollar un profundo conocimiento en sus relaciones personales y emocionales con otros individuos. Selena, la Monroe o Chacalón, poseían de natura, estas inteligencias proyectadas hacia fuera, hacia los demás, habiendo llegado a conocer a la perfección los estados de ánimo de los demás, sus deseos escondidos, sus motivaciones, sus temperamentos, sus intenciones, de forma tal que adquirieron la capacidad para influir sobre ellos encaminándolos hacia determinado fin (logro de estados de ánimo positivos, placenteros y hasta morbosos), escuchándolas, viéndolas, alcanzando en esta área de la comunicación social, la misma estatura que Kennedy, Gorbachev, Castro, Lenin,etc.
En estas inteligencias influye el medio y la cultura. Selena fué soportada fiel y adecuadamente desde su infancia, por una (su), familia musical, absorbiendo tempranamente la totalidad de la simbología musical del Tex-Mex. Al interpretar y desarrollar el estilo y esencia de la lirica del Tex-Mex, enriqueció el significado de la música, magnificando su sensibilidad, posibilitadora de la absorción de una gama más amplia de emociones y percepciones. En el caso de Marilyn, su conocimiento de las necesidades emocionales sexuales de los hombres que iban a verla, la urgiría a descubrir nuevas avenidas comunicativas. Joshua Logan, uno de sus directores de película graficaba : ” Marilyn era puro cine, no necesitaba usar palabras…le bastaba con sus ojos, sus labios, sus ligeros y casuales gestos” (2). Selena, con su sola presencia inundaba de emoción infinita los escenarios. Cuando en esta oportunidad, la magia del video la revivió cantando :Amor prohibido y miles de pañuelos y rosas blancas inundaron el estadio, este alcanzó su clímax. De Chacalón, solo diremos “todo acto o voz genial viene del pueblo y va hacia el” (3).
