Music and physical exercises (música y ejercicios).

Cuando redactamos el artículo : Prolongando la vida activa (la útil). 08/27/05, en torno a aspectos preventivos sanitarios personales, a efectos de extender nuestra vida útil, un especialista en nutrición nos recomendaba no realizar ejercicios fisicos en simultáneo con música de oído (con walkmans), porque según él, en vez de sosiego, acumularíamos estrés, por exceso de adrenalina. El especialista, en véz de música recomendaba concentrarse mentalmente en el logro de un enlentecimiento de los latidos cardiacos, una respiración adecuada, con ausencia de algias, al logro con los ejercicios, de un todo corporal-espiritual, pleno de páz. La sugerencia me pareció interesante, no obstante existir reportes que sostienen lo contrario. En efecto, una investigación realizada por el doctor Costas Karageorghis de la Universidad de Brunel (Londres), vé con buenos ojos, que los adolescentes realicen ejercicios fisicos, escuchando simultáneamente música de tono alto y viendo TV, lo que mejoraría la performance física hasta en un 20%. Estudios adicionales recomiendan variedad en la música, teniendo en cuenta el tipo de ejercicio y los gustos personales. En general se aconseja música rápida para ejercicios violentos y moderada para los levantadores de pesas. Hay aquí, cierta analogía con lo ejercitado en ciertos supermercados donde se toca música rápida para inducir ventas masivas y más lenta (al mediodía), cuando los clientes escasean.

Mi particular punto de vista -intermedio-al respecto, lo extraigo de analogías con el manejo de vehículos. Cuando uno maneja por primera véz, debe concentrarse intensamente, empero cuando el acto reflejo queda fijado en el cerebro, la intensidad de la concentración vá disminuyendo, hasta casi desaparecer. Se dice entonces que el manejo ha devenido en automático y yá no constituye el foco principal de atención del cerebro. Este, ahora es libre para focalizar su atención en otras áreas. Desde un punto de vista general, concuerdo en que es contraproducente iniciarse por primera véz en una rutina de ejercicios fisicos, escuchando simultáneamente música, porque en ausencia de circuitos reflejos establecidos, el practicante se distraeria, incrementaria su estrés y hasta podria tener accidentes. Solo, cuando se tiene suficiente práctica (más de 2 meses de ejercicios o, de manejo vehicular) y, cuando el practicar deviene en automático (cuando el cerebro esta libre), entonces se pueden recibir nuevos encargos (música u, otros), en simultáneo. Nuestra visión al respecto es teérica, el debate está abierto.

Like you said the debate is open. For example in a big city as Lima you can jog and get really stressed for the multiple things you have to watch for. On the other hand, if you are an enthusiastic jogger and the place where you run is not The Av. Abancay but a bucolic place, full of nice landscapes, trees, and pure air I think the stress factor is pretty much reduced and the impact to yourself minimum. About the impact of music I know many songs that could be really annoying haha...
