Saramago and the Euthanasia (Saramago y la Eutanasia).

Some peruvians Hospitals (more than 600 beds of capacity), are little by little turning their critical services spaces in controversy areas. They are rooms where the life of some patients hangs of a thread, because of incurables diseases. One deal in this spaces with patients whose imminence of death is next and/or very close. As it is known in Oregon -USA, Switzerland and Sweden, the Death Assisted (in Oregon, they denominate Death with Dignity), by Physicians (DABP)is permitted legally. In these cases at the request of the patient, the doctor prescribes 200 mililiter of barbiturates, conditioning to them irremediable deaths. The own patient determines the action and the moment for the self-death. Basic condition basic for these practical is that the patient has a life prognosis, minor to 6 months (cancers with metasthasis to liver and bone, that do not respond to conventional therapy, for example).
Different thing is the Euthanasia, in which the own doctor administers the lethal dose personally. In order to throw more firewood to the fire, Saramago will present next week its book " Death Interferences", in which it does not find better way to analyze the chiaroscuros of life and death, that granting eternal life to its protagonists, with the only condition of which all will not enjoy perfect physical and mental health throughout their eternal lives. In that perspective, obvious, some will demand their right to decide to whichever time to live.
The DABP, is winning adept in the rest of the world. A proposal of Bill to implant the DABP, will be discussed the next week in the Chamber of the Lords of England. Although a strong opposition of the Catholic and Anglican Churches persists to the promulgation of this Bill, the recent neutrality adopted on the matter on the part of the powerful British Medical Association, has facilitated the things. As recent private surveys demonstrate that until 50 % of British doctors, supports the promulgation of this Bill, the subject already does not seem to be now in the DABP, per se, but its regulation (adequate safeguards), so that no one white assassin, twists the true intentions of the Law. It is is suggested that the patient grants its informed consent 2 times (1 of them, in front of a witness) and that at least 2 physicians, certify the physiopathológic state, of the patient.
