CHILD LIVER TRANSPLANTATION

Many people is happy due to the successful liver transplantation performed at a 3-year girl affected by congenital hepatic cirrhosis. Her mother of 25 years old gave her 2 segments (180 g) of her liver after totally removal of the battered liver of her daughter. The operation performed in the hospital Guillermo Almenara/Lima-Peru), was performed by Dr. Carlos Chaman and lasted 15 hours. TRANSPLANTES HEPATICOS EN NIÑOS

Reconforta el trasplante de hígado realizado a una niña de de 3 años afecta de cirrosis hepática congénita. Su madre de 25 años le donó 2 segmentos (180 g), de su hígado implantados trás extirparle totalmente el maltrecho hígado a su hija. La operación realizada en el hospital Guillermo Almenara /Lima-Perú), duró 15 hs estuvo a cargo del Dr. Carlos Chaman. Se realizan trasplantes segmentarios porque los niños no pueden albergar los enormes hígados adultos. Antes los sistemas inmunológicos de los niños tendían a rechazar el hígado más rápidamente que el de los adultos, problema soluccionado con el empleo de potentes inmunosupresores (ciclosporina, tacrolimus). En trasplantes de hígado dividido, dos pacientes pueden compartir un hígado, la parte más pequeña vá para el niño y la parte más grande para el adulto. En los últimos años, las tasas de supervivencia han mejorado : 80% a 5 años. Las principales indicaciones para trasplantar un hígado son: cirrosis, insuficiencia hepática aguda, hepatocarcinoma, etc.
