ARTIFICIAL BRONCHUS




A French medical team led by Antoine Carpentier and Emmanuel Martinod (Avicenne Hospital Bobigny/Paris), implanted successfully (2009), an artificial bronchus manufactured from one piece of cryopreserved aorta from a tissue bank to a 78 year old patient with right lung advanced lung-bronchial cancer, subject to bilobectomy and lymph node removal. Not being the bronchus implanted rejected by the donor, it was unncessary administer to the patient imunosuppressive therapy. 16 months after surgery, the patient enters and leaves his house at will because he feels good about health concerns.

Un equipo médico francés liderado por Antoine Carpentier y Emmanuel Martinod (Hospital Avicenne Bobigny/Paris), implantó con éxito el 2009, un bronquio artificial fabricado de una pieza de aorta criopreservada procedente de un banco de tejidos a un paciente de 78 años con cancer broncopulmonar avanzado del pulmon derecho, sometido a bilobectomía y remoción de ganglios linfáticos. Al no ser el bronquio implantado rechazado por el donador, fué innecesario administrar al paciente inmunosupresores. 16 meses después de la cirugía, el paciente entra y sale de su casa a voluntad ya que refiere sentirse bien de salud.
