INORGANIC LIFE

According to Lee Cronin (Chemistry/University of Glasgow), on Earth, there would be non biological life forms (inorganic, synthetic biology), which have not progressed much due to organic chemistry works very good here. Organic biology took all available resources creating extremely efficient and complex living systems. Cronin believes that inorganic biology evolves in certain parts of the universe being interconnected by evolution a general property of all matter in the universe, being possible the existence of alien life forms, consisting of iron, silica etc. For now, Cronin build complex functional molecular architectures based on non-biological organic blocks.

Cronin believes that matter is constantly evolving because biological life forms are made from inorganic matter. If we evolve inorganic matter we will develop new materials, new systems and finally we will understand how life emerged on our planet. Cronin is creating inorganic cells (that encapsulate complex chemical reactions) that self-replicate and evolve. Also, constructs that break down in an acid medium, are changed to warmer environments filled with saline or other, preventing its destruction and promoting their survival. Waterproof sunscreen that begin to degrade change color, signal for reconditioning it. Cronin try to understand how evolution builds complex systems, hoping to predict later when the next HN1 virus will emerge.

VIDA INORGANICA

Según Lee Cronin (Quimica/University of Glasgow), en la Tierra, existirian formas de vida no biologicas (biologia inorganica/sintetica), que no han progresado mucho a causa de que la quimica organica trabaja excelentemente aquí. La biologia organica tomo todos los recursos disponibles creando sistemas vivos extremadamente complejos y eficientes. Cronin opina que la biologia inorganica evoluciona en ciertos lugares del universo estando interconectada a modo de un gran ser vivo -mediante la evolucion- propiedad general de toda la materia en el universo, siendo posible la existencia de formas vivas alienigenas, constituidas por hierro, silice,etc. De momento, Cronin construye arquitecturas moleculares funcionales complejas no basadas en bloques biologícos organicos.

Cronin piensa que la materia evoluciona porque las formas vivas biológicas están hechas de materia inorgánica. Si hacemos evolucionar materia inorgánica descubriremos nuevos materiales, nuevos sistemas y finalmente entenderemos como emergió la vida en nuestro planeta. Cronin construye celulas inorganicas (que encapsulan reacciones quimicas complejas), que se autoreplican y evolucionan. Asimismo, constructos que se descomponen en medios acidos, son cambiados a ambientes mas calientes o a otros repletos de sal, evitando su destrucción y promoviendo su supervivencia. Pantallas antisolares resistentes al agua que al empezar a degradarse cambian de color, señal para reacondicionarlos. Cronin trata de entender como la evolucion construye sistemas complejos, con la esperanza de predecir mas adelante cuando emergera el siguiente virus HN1.
