Asimov, the best.

As you know The Guardian, is dedicating since last month, a daily page to themes of science and items related. As the plan understands to maintain and to expand the thematic, they have called various journalists of importance, some of whom will become with time, in true critical specialists. Initiative to be imitated with security, by Der Spiegel, Le Monde, El Mundo, and other important media of the world, that understand that not alone science has to do with experiments, but also with aspects very related to the future of the humanity. Looking at this section, I encountered today that http://home.austarnet.com.au/petersykes/topscifi/features_authors.html 60 scientific of the entire world, have elected to the Russian-American : Isaac Asimov, as the best writer of sci-fi of all times, what induces me to 3 reflections:

1) By being of Russian origin (Petrovich, Smolensko-Rusia.1920. he was carried by its jews parents to Brooklyn NY, at the age of 3 years old), I thought that in his work must be influence of certain people or, the russian collective (Read scientific page of Pravda, where the news of science, are generally linked to certain dose of sensationalism). Nevertheless, Russia is recognized for being cradle of great scientifics. If not, give a look to its vast spatial, nuclear, ballistic production, etc. Perhaps, beeings the Russian lack religious restrictions, are relaxed when their writers treat themes of science. Unless his biographers find passed through high, certain russian scientific influence in Asimov, facilitated by nearby relatives (he, did not speak Russian), he had invented his style from reading sci-fi- in newyorkers magazines. The theme of the laxity imports, because through another section of The Guardian, I inform me that a buro of the NASA, is inviting to scientific of the entire world to send novel ideas -without any restriccion -to incorporate its to their future spatial plans. In various of my prior articles I had criticized the shortsightedness of NASA, because some of their projects appeared limited by shirts of force (See Ciencia: The event scientific of the year -12/08/05-, New and powerful fuels -12/15/05-, Breakthrough of the year -12/23/05-Science: the true breakthrough -12/30 /05- and others. The NASA begins to understand that the large projects need rules, but also certain degrees of liberty.

2) In principle, Asimov (dead in 1992), was a man of very solid science, coming to reach a doctorate in Biochemist in the University of Columbia. The roots of his innumerable and prolifics ideas in sci-fi, must be seek, then in his formation. Aside from sci-fi, Asimov, has written several books of science (of disclosure very scientific-popular writings). Besides this he has written on Shakespeare, the Bible and multiples assays where the theme is the future of the humanity. It is clear that to pass from a solid formation in science, to sci-fi, should provide certain advantages.

3) Because of it, its style is different. Leaving from solid data Asimov, cross with facility the bounderies, projecting, and finally be submerged in the sci-fi with inequable dexterity and originality. Because of it, always he is doing histories to the limit, between science and science ficcion. Always foretelling the future. A fan cannot achieve these instances with the alone aid of his imagination. To get succesful in science ficcion, it is necessary to get many know-how of science and logic. Because of it, Asimov counts on various contributions. In sci-fi he has two celebrated series, one corresponding to robots (I Robot, evolution of robots, conflicts between humans and robots, uses of the robots, laws of the robotic, etc) and supposed galactic empires (Series on the Foundation), of good intentions, of 1000 years of extension. Asimov has printed several termins such as psyichohistory, robotic, positronic brain, etc.

Asimov, el mejor.

Como ustedes saben The Guardian, está dedicando desde el més pasado, una página diaria a temas de ciencia e items relacionados. Como el plan comprende mantener y expandir la temática, han convocado a varios periodistas de fuste, algunos de los cuales devendrán con el tiempo, en verdaderos especialistas criticos. Iniciativa a ser imitada con seguridad, por Der Spiegel, Le Monde, El Mundo y otros medios importantes del mundo, que entienden que ciencia no solo tiene que ver con experimentos, sino con aspectos muy relacionados con el futuro de la humanidad. Ojeando esta sección, encuentro el dia de hoy que 60 cientificos de todo el mundo, han elegido al ruso-americano Isaac Asimov, como el mejor escritor de ciencia-ficción de los todos los tiempos, lo que me induce a 3 reflexiones:

1) Por ser de origen ruso (Petrovich, Smolensko-Rusia.1920. Llevado por sus padres judios a Brooklyn. NY, a los 3 años de edad), pensaba yo que en su obra habia influido el particular modo de ver la ciencia que tienen ciertas personas o, entidades del colectivo ruso (Leer página cientifica de Pravda, donde las noticias de ciencia, generalmente van aparejadas a cierta dosis de sensacionalismo). No obstante ello, Rusia es reconocida por ser cuna de grandes cientificos. Sino denle una mirada a su vasta producción nuclear, espacial, balistica, etc. Quizás, los rusos al carecer de restricciones religiosas, sean algo mas laxos al tratar temas de ciencia. A menos que sus biografos hallan pasado por alto, cierta influencia cientifica rusa en Asimov, facilitada por familiares cercanos -el, que no hablaba ruso- habria generado su estilo a partir de la lectura de ciencia ficcion, ofertada en magazines neoyorkinos. El tema de la laxitud importa, porque a través de otro apartado de The Guardian, me informo que una oficina de la NASA, está invitando cientificos de todo el mundo a enviarle ideas novedosas -sin restricción alguna -para incorporarlas a sus futuros planes espaciales. En varios de mis articulos previos he criticado la cortedad de vista de la NASA, en razón de que algunos de sus proyectos lucen limitados por camisas de fuerza (Ver Ciencia:The event scientific of the year -12/08/05-, New and powerful fuels -12/15/05-, Breakthrough of the year -12/23/05-Science :the true breakthrough -12/30 /05- y otros. La NASA empieza a entender que los grandes proyectos necesitan reglas, pero tambien ciertos grados de libertad.
2) En principio, Asimov (fallecido en 1992), fué un hombre de ciencia muy sólido, llegando a alcanzar un doctorado en Bioquímica en la Universidad de Columbia. Las raices de sus innumerables y prolificas ideas en ciencia-ficción, hay que buscarlas entonces en su formación. Aparte de ciencia-ficción, Asimov, ha escrito inmumerables libros de ciencia (de divulgación cientifica popular, escritos de modo tal, que una vez que empiezas, no puedes despegarte de ellos). Además ha escrito sobre Shakespeare, la Biblia y múltiples ensayos donde el tema es el porvenir de la humanidad. Es claro que pasar de una formación sólida en ciencia, a ciencia-ficción, debe proporcionar ciertas ventajas.

3) Por ello su estilo es diferente. Partiendo de datos sólidos Asimov, cruza con facilidad la linea divisoria, se proyecta para finalmente sumergirse en la ciencia-ficción con inigualable destreza y originalidad. Por ello, siempre está haciendo historias al limite, entre ciencia y ciencia-ficción. Siempre augurando lo porvenir. Un aficionado no puede lograr estas instancias con la sola ayuda de su imaginación. Para ser novedoso en ciencia-ficción, hay que apertrecharse de muchos conocimientos de ciencia y lógica. por ello, Asimov cuenta con varios aportes. En ciencia-ficción sus dos series mas celebradas son las correspondientes a robots (Yo Robot, evolución de robots, conflictos entre humanos y robots, usos de los robots, leyes de la robótica,etc) y supuestos imperios galácticos (Series sobre la Fundación), de buenas intenciones, de 1000 años de extensión.
