COLLECTIVE LEARNING

Distribution of 16 players (PNAS drawing).

An interesting  study performed in the web  informed about 256 experiments realized by groups of 16 individuals each one forming collectives that solved complex problems (optimization across multiple dimensions) and share information using different communication networks. These collective exploration improves the success average research (over independent explorations), because good solutions flows through web networks. Efficient networks outperform inefficient ones, even in qualitative spatial problems with properties previously thought favored inefficient networks ; explained in terms of individual research-exploitation decisions, exploiting network structure and strategic considerations. Resolution of complex problems in science, business and engineering require some tradeoff between exploitation of known solitions and new ones. Previous and current research showed that in certain cases solving complex problems collectively using inefficient networks (relatively slow spread information), perform better than efficient netwoks, because they use more time to think and reflect.

APRENDIZAJE COLECTIVO
