Terraformation.

Mark Nelson, http://www.biospheres.com/keynelsoncv.html an american echoenvirommentalist, has recently exposed in the 36th Scientific Assembly of the Committee of Space Explorations - Beijing, his project to place 4 people in Mars, sheltered in semi-macro-spheres, isolated and self-sufficient. Given the vertiginous advance of the space reconnaissance and being next to be carried out, several missions of human landing in the Moon and Mars, his presence was indispensable there. Nelson, ex-director of Space Biosphere Ventures, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biosphere_2 is expert in renewable ecological systems and spent 2 years of his life (Tucson, /Arizona: 1991-1993), inside an isolated hemisphere, of glass, 41 m2, set with other 7 scientists, to object to generate their own foods, from recycling organic sources and an initial quota of vegetables, animals and minerals (potatos, wheat, rice, soya, bananas, peanut, beet, papaya, cows, oxygenate, water, chorals, etc.). Nelson and his collaborators, recycle constantly: water, air, foods and wastes. These last ones were lead to closed tanks where anaeróbic bacteria, desintegrate everything. The discarded served water was decontaminated spontaneously (without chloride addition), spilled in marshes and again employed, in workings of agriculture of small scale, to provide forage for animals and products for human feeding. The experiment had a positive balance although also some problems: gradual shortage of oxygenate, phosphorus and nitrogen. The things improved in later experiments, made in Yucatan/Akumal/Mexico (81.2 and 50.6 m2, for 24 and 16 people, respectively).

The results of these experiments, have been made public now, in order to prepare space missions to terraform Mars. Conscious that the experiments mainly have been made in coastal or, near mangrove areas, we have suggested in 2 previous articles (see below) : Africa mine, as you hurt to me (July/24/05) and Making Mars, Titan, etc., like Earth (June/2/05), that these also must be carried out in extreme places, like the desert of the Sahara, in order to diminish food´s scarceness that of time in time many African countries confront. Nelson says that the Biospheres generated in their semi-macro-spheres, are self sustainables. The term need to be clarified because what in fact contains his semi-macro-spheres are minibiospheres.

The term Biosphere, was conceived in the brilliants minds of the paleontólogist, philosopher http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Teilhard_de_Chardin and French Jesuit: Pierre Teilhard de Chardin and the Russian geochemical Vladimir Vernadsky, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vladimir_I._Vernadsky who anticipating themselves, foreseeing that Biosphere is a thin living mantle that surrounds the totality of the Earth, where all organic life animal and vegetable shine intimately united, concentrating and using great part of the solar energy. That is the true Biosphere. Both thinkers also saw in advance that the brain neuronal networks of the terrestrial species more outposts (human and those of some animals and vegetables), will get to connect themselves someday to the way of a gigantic terrestrial brain perhaps being helped or, preceded by artificial aids : technósphera (Internet?, chains of DNA, psychological synchronization of Carl Jung?, matter socialized and humanized of Oliver Reisler) or, perhaps forced by global threats (global overheating). In these circumstances we will assist to the evolution of the Biosphere http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biosphere (life networks), to a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noosphere global thinking network (Noosphere).

Marte, como la Tierra.

Mark Nelson, ingeniero ecoambientalista americano, acaba de exponer en la 36 ava Asamblea Cientifica del Comité de Investigaciones Espaciales –Pekín-, su proyecto de colocar 4 personas en Marte cobijadas en semi-macro-esferas, aisladas y autosuficientes. Dado el avance vertiginoso de la exploración espacial y estando próximas a llevarse a cabo, varias misiones de posamiento humano en la Luna y Marte, su presencia alli era indispensable. Nelson, ex-director de Space Biosphere Ventures, es experto en sistemas ecológicos renovables y pasó 2 años de su vida (Tucson,/Arizona: 1991-1993), en el interior de una semiesfera aislada, de vidrio, de 41 m2, de conjunto con otros 7 cientificos, a objeto de generar sus propios alimentos, a partir del reciclaje continuo de deshechos orgánicos y una cuota inicial de vegetales, animales y minerales (papas, trigo, arroz, soya, bananas, mani, remolacha, papaya, vacas, oxigeno, agua, corales, etc.). Nelson y sus colaboradores, reciclaron constantemente: agua, aire, alimentos y desechos. Estos últimos eran conducidos a tanques cerrados donde bacterias anaeróbicas, descomponian todo. El agua servida liquida final era descontaminada espontáneamente (sin adición de cloruros), para tras ser vertida en pantanos, ser empleada, en labores de agricultura de pequeña escala, generadora de forraje para animales y productos para alimentación humana. El experimento tuvo un saldo positivo aunque también algunos problemas :escaséz paulatina de oxigeno, fosforo y nitrógeno. Las cosas mejoraron en experimentos posteriores, realizados en Yucatán/Akumal/Mexico (espacios de 50,6 y 81,2 m2 , para 16 y 24 personas, respectivamente).

Los resultados de estos experimentos, han sido desempolvados ahora, a fin de preparar misiones espaciales para terraquizar Marte y la Luna. Conscientes de que los experimentos han sido mayormente realizados en areas costeras o, cercanas a manglares, nosotros hemos sugerido en 2 articulos anteriores (ver abajo): Africa mia, como me dueles (Julio/24/05) y Terraquizando Marte, Titan, etc (Junio/2/05), que estos tambien se lleven a cabo en medios extremos, como el desierto del Sahara, a fin de paliar las terribles hambrunas que de tiempo en tiempo afrontan muchos paises africanos. Nelson dice que las Biósferas generadas en sus semi-macro-esferas, son autosostenibles. Habria que aclarar que lo que en realidad contienen sus semi-macro-esferas son minibiósferas. El término Biósfera, fué concebida en las mentes preclaras del paleontólogo, filosofo y jesuita francés : Pierre Teilhard de Chardin y el geoquimico ruso Vladimir Vernadsky, quienes anticipándose, intuyeron que Biósfera es un delgado manto viviente que circunda la totalidad de la Tierra, donde toda vida orgánica animal y vegetal lucen intimamente unidas, concentrando y utilizando gran parte de la energia solar. Esa es la verdadera Biósfera. Ambos pensadores intuyeron tambien que las redes neuronales cerebrales de las especies terráqueas más avanzadas (humanos y las de algunos animales y vegetales), llegarán a conectarse algún dia al modo de un gigantesco cerebro terrenal siendo tal vez ayudadas o, precedidas por ayudas artifíciales :tecnósfera (Internet?, cadenas de DNA, sincronización psicológica de Carl Jung?, materia socializada y humanizada de Oliver Reisler?) o, tal vez forzadas por amenazas globales (recalentamiento global?).
